OUR CHILDREN NEED YOUR SUPPORT!!!

Rescue, Release and Restore, Inc. NFP is seeking donations to support our children in attending 2010 camps.  By making your donation, you will receive RRR's eNewsletter and a personal invitation to all RRR events.  Thank you for your support!

Rescue, Release and Restore, Inc. NFP is an organization that provides youth ages 8-17 an opportunity to explore and celebrate all they are meant to be.  The Program is a community that creates a space for listening, teaching, and responding to the needs of young males and females.

THE MISSION STATEMENT

We are determined to:  Rescue their gifts, Release their potential and Restore their promise.

Rescue, Release and Restore, Inc. NFP; connects basic principles with African precepts, proverbs and ethical traditions.  RRR demonstrates how we have inherited tradition transmitted through culture.  Candidates are given instruction, guided in structured disciplines and returned to the community through ritual action.  RRR is providing a community for persons who are seeking a more productive life.  Youth see all around them "a climate of civility" as they learn conflict resolution, self-respect, and reciprocity toward others.

The curriculum and structure for the program deal with a "Cultural Orientation to Life" focusing on:

1. The Centrality of Community

2. Harmony with Nature (environment, sustainable awareness)

3. Reverence for Ancestors

4. Personal Centeredness

5. Survival (self)

6. Dispute Resolution

The young men and young ladies spend time during the program examining peer, male-female, and intergenerational relationships, dealing with anger and violence prevention and issues regarding drug/alcohol abuse.  One of the more therapeutic activities that occur during the RRR Experience is the "Pain Fire" where our youth, elders and nation builders create a safe space and time to release their internalized fear, pain and anger during a sacramental ritual of confession and truth.

The program is offered on a monthly basis with programming and activities and our camp programs offer youth the opportunity to participate in a ten-day camping experience called "The Simba Circle" for boys and a six-day camping experience called “The Arms of Simsa” for girls.

There have been sixteen boys camps conducted since 1994 and three girls’ camps since 2007, touching over 1900 young men and women and some 650 adults.  Early in the process, it was realized that adults who volunteer in good faith are not always equipped to handle some of the issues our youth might present them with during the camping experience. So every adult who actually volunteers is required to have at least 15 hours of training that helps them work through issues of "adultism" that prevent us from really being able to understand the pain our youth endure daily.
